Downtown NOLA Awards

August 16, 2019 – Three of the five honorees slated to receive Downtown NOLA Awards  have been projects brought to light by Frischhertz. The Downtown Development District (DDD) sponsors the award celebration to distinguish developments that have made a significant impact on the downtown area. The Domain Group’s Maison de la Luz, the Sazerac House and NOCHI (New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute) are among the five establishments being honored at this year’s celebration.

Maison de la Luz is one of the Downtown Development District’s newest boutique hotels. The building was originally constructed in 1908 and served as a former annex to New Orleans City Hall. The new hotel touts a chic new “sanctuary” destination and one of downtown’s hippest new social scenes at Bar Marilou. Frischhertz contracted with The Palmisano Group on the construction.

The Sazerac House sits at the intersection of Canal and Magazine Street. It showcases a museum dedicated to the history of New Orleans spirits, including its namesake Sazerac Cocktail. Visitors can uncover the history of “America’s cocktail” and enjoy spirited events throughout the year. Frischhertz contracted with Ryan Gootee General Contractors on the project.

Foodies began flocking to NOCHI earlier this year after the official opening. NOCHI’s mission is to “advance the development and practice of the culinary arts, and to support the growth of the hospitality.” It’s deliciousness also includes the NOCHI Café by Gracious Bakery. Frischhertz contracted with Woodward Design + Build on the project.

Guests and honorees are set to gather for the award luncheon on September 20, 2019 at The Fillmore. The Fillmore recently opened in February of this year as a new, NOLA entertainment venue. With a 2,200 person capacity, the multi-purpose music club occupies a portion of the long-vacant second floor of Harrah’s Casino.  The Fillmore is also another project completed by Frischhertz, who contracted with Ryan Gootee General Contractors on the project.
